This Trademark Notice describes the trademarks, service marks, and related intellectual property behind Breakup Buddy (“Breakup Buddy,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) and sets out the rules for their use by third parties. This page is provided for transparency and to give notice of our trademark rights; it is not legal advice.
Ownership and registration
BREAKUP BUDDY is our registered trademark, recorded on the Principal Register of the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

The registration symbol (®) should appear with the mark on first or most prominent use in any material distributed in the United States.
What is protected
The following are our proprietary assets, protected under applicable trademark, trade dress, and intellectual-property law:
- The word mark BREAKUP BUDDY in all forms and stylizations
- The Breakup Buddy app icon and logo
- Distinctive slogans, taglines, and marketing phrases associated with Breakup Buddy
- The distinctive visual identity, trade dress, and design elements of the Breakup Buddy app and the website at breakupbuddy.app
Trade dress and unregistered marks may be protected under federal and state law regardless of registration. No license to use any of these marks is granted by the Breakup Buddy app, website, or this notice, unless explicitly stated below or in a separate written agreement.
Permitted uses (nominative and fair use)
You may make truthful, non-misleading references to the Breakup Buddy name without prior written permission in these circumstances, provided you follow the conditions below:
- Factual references in press coverage, reviews, blog posts, academic work, or social media (e.g., “I used the Breakup Buddy app to…”).
- Compatibility or integration statements, where accurate (e.g., “Our service integrates with Breakup Buddy”).
- Describing or referring to the Breakup Buddy product or service in its correct context.
Conditions for all permitted uses:
- Use the Breakup Buddy name only as an adjective followed by a generic descriptor (e.g., “Breakup Buddy app,” “Breakup Buddy chatbot,” “Breakup Buddy community”). Do not use it as a stand-alone noun for the product or as a verb.
- Do not alter the spelling, capitalization, hyphenation, or spacing. The correct form is “Breakup Buddy” (two words, both capitalized).
- Do not imply sponsorship, endorsement, or affiliation unless a formal relationship exists and has been authorized in writing.
- Display the Breakup Buddy name less prominently than your own brand or publication.
- Do not use the mark in a way that is false or misleading about Breakup Buddy’s products or services.
- Include the ® symbol on the first or most prominent use when practicable.
Prohibited uses
Unless you have received express written permission from us, you may not:
- Use “Breakup Buddy,” or any confusingly similar variation, as the name of your own product, service, company, or app.
- Incorporate “Breakup Buddy” or any variation into a domain name, social media handle, app-store listing, or username.
- Use the Breakup Buddy logo, app icon, or any proprietary graphic in your own materials, products, or marketing.
- Alter, animate, distort, recolor, or combine the Breakup Buddy logo or icon with other marks or designs.
- Create merchandise (apparel, stickers, accessories, or other goods) bearing any Breakup Buddy mark or logo.
- Use any Breakup Buddy mark in a way that suggests we sponsor, endorse, or are affiliated with your product, service, or organization.
- Register or attempt to register any trademark, domain name, or social-media account that contains “Breakup Buddy” or a confusingly similar term.
- Use Breakup Buddy marks in advertising or promotional material without explicit written approval.
Correct attribution
- Use ® on first or most prominent mentionin materials distributed in the United States (e.g., “Breakup Buddy® app”).
- Always use as an adjective,followed by a generic term: “Breakup Buddy app,” “Breakup Buddy service,” “Breakup Buddy chatbot.”
- Do notuse it as a noun (“download a Breakup Buddy”), a verb (“just Breakup Buddy it”), or in plural or possessive form.
- Do not abbreviate or create nicknames based on the mark.
- When appropriate, include the attribution: “Breakup Buddy® is a registered trademark.”
Third-party trademarks
Apple, the Apple logo, iPhone, iPad, and App Store are trademarks of Apple Inc., registered in the U.S. and other countries. OpenAI is a trademark of OpenAI, Inc. (or its affiliates). All other trademarks, service marks, trade names, and product names appearing in the Breakup Buddy app, website, or related materials are the property of their respective owners and are used solely for identification. Their use does not imply any affiliation with, or endorsement by, those owners.
Requesting permission and reporting misuse
To request permission for a use not covered by this notice, or to report suspected misuse of a Breakup Buddy trademark, contact [email protected]. We reserve the right to modify these guidelines at any time and to object to any use of the Breakup Buddy marks that does not comply with this notice.
